Location: 10 Harmonia Street
Private/Public: Private

Warnings:Summary: Theo brings Romy someplace safe
Completion: Complete

As they arrived in the house, Theo hoped the tug of the portkey hadn't made her worse. As she coughed up more blood, he swore, and put her down on the bed in the guest bedroom.

'Mimsy!' He called, putting Romilda down as the elf appeared. 'I need a bezoar, and water, and a cloth, then I need parchment, ink and quill…and Zephyr,' he added as an afterthought.

No doubt Rodolphus would keep track now, he couldn't show him that he was in contact with Snape. And he desperately needed Snape to fix this, because if Orla hadn't been able to do more than temporarily stabilise her… well he needed an antidote to whatever it was she'd been given. And fast.

Fuck, he didn't like it when he couldn't fulfil his promises. Though in all honesty if the stupid bint hadn't tried to get information. He nearly growled.

A pop alerted him to Mimsy's arrival, and he quickly took the bezoar and the water, tilting Romilda's head back as he forced the bezoar down her throat.

'Just swallow, it will allow you to hold on until we can find an antidote,' he said letting her drink, hoping she wouldn't cough it all up again, or slip back into unconsciousness.

Romilda was slipping in and out of sleep, the pain starting to get less. But there was a numbness now in her legs and arms, and she felt so cold. It would be so easy to fall asleep, but she heard Theo's voice commanding her to wake up.

She blinked, the light hurting her eyes as she automatically asked about Liam. At Theo's reassurance, she was about to close her eyes and rest. Another figure hovered nearby and she let her eyes open, trying to focus on it. Now she knew she must be delirious, as she could have sworn it was Professor Snape. "'Fessor," she mumbled. "Bezoar," she also said, remembering something about one from earlier. Professor Snape had taught her all about them. "Food tastes funny..." seemed to be an important thing to say, but she was cold and numb and couldn't feel her legs any more. "So cold..."

Severus moved past Theo and placed the chest of antidotes on the bedside table as he let what Vane had said run through his mind. A bezoar could hold off but not cure the poison. It had enough taste to be noticeable... and what kind of idiot didn't question when their food started tasting odd? He snorted to himself. Vane was a Gryffindor, a certain amount of idiocy was to be expected. The poison also had her delirious and feeling cold.

He stripped the blankets back with a sharp move then pulled out his wand and pressed the tip firmly into the base of one of her feet.

"Can you feel that?" he asked her briskly.

"What other symptoms has she been exhibiting?" he demanded of Theo, glancing over his shoulder. "I need to know all of them, no matter how insignificant you might think they are?"

Romilda wondered how delirious she was when the vision of Professor Snape started to wander around and throw back her blanket. She shivered more. When he asked her a question about her feet, she nodded. "Yes sir," she replied in a meek voice. There was a dull pain through the cold under her foot and she clutched again at her belly. Was it still a delirious dream, or was the professor really there?

Theo listened and watched, waiting for Romilda to answer before he himself did.

'She's had a miscarriage, she's coughing blood, she has a hard time staying awake and she seems a bit confused about what is real or not. She also has a fever, and has apparently been sick for days. She thought it was a bad case of morning sickness apparently,' he said, remembering what Rodolphus had told him.

Severus scowled and put his wand down on the bedside table; Vane's nervous system was obviously depressed since she should have been yelping with the amount of pressure he was using, not just meekly saying 'yes, sir'. His scowl deepened at the list of symptoms Theo rattled off. He knew several poisons that could cause some or all of those symptoms as well as several potions and ingredients which if misused could do the same.

He growled under his breath and pulled the blankets back over Vane. Keeping her warm would be a wise thing right now. He fished a small knife from his robes and retrieved one of her hands from underneath the blankets. He used the knife to prick her finger then pulled out a single vial containing a clear liquid from the back of the chest. He opened it and let three drops of her blood fall into it.

A wordless spell healed her finger then he capped the vial again and shook it vigorously. When he stopped for a moment the potion swirled around then it slowly separated out into three distinct layers. The topmost was a virulent green, the middle blood red and the bottom a vivid blue. He picked up his wand and uncapped the vial. He dipped the tip into the top layer and murmured a quiet spell. The layer seemed to be sucked up into his wand and he swore as the result of the spell ricocheted through him. He repeated this with the other two layers then put the now empty vial back in the chest.

"Titchy!" he barked and the house elf appeared a moment later.

"Yes, Master Severus?"

Severus reeled off a list of ingredients he would need as well as which cauldron and stirrers. Titchy bowed and disappeared with a crack. Severus then turned back to the chest and pulled out two vials. He uncapped the first then turned back to Romilda.

He slid one hand behind her head to raise it then put the vial to her lips. "Drink this," he said, his voice adamant before repeating the process with the second.

Romilda felt somewhat warmer when the blanket came back over her, and her desire to sleep waned when she felt the Professor doing something to her hand. She could have sworn she saw blood, but she had seen so much blood, she didn't know what to think any more. Blood on her nightclothes - her baby.

She let out another whimper at the thought of her loss, but before she could cry out, she was being commanded to drink.

It tasted vile, and he coughed. It wasn't a hacking cough, just one from having swallowed something unpleasant. Blinking, she could feel a little warmth getting back into her from the inside, and she became a little more conscious of her surroundings. Her eyes clamped first on Professor Snape, then the elf, then Theo.

"Sir?" she said as she tried to sit up. Wincing, she realised that wasn't a great idea, and fell back to the pillow, her eyes still open. "What's happened?" she asked with a little strength in her voice.

Theo watched in silence as Severus worked, summoning a chair he sat down, close enough for Romilda to see him, but without interfering with what was going on.

It was obvious that Severus was trying to detect the potion, and Theo noted that he'd ask later about the potion he'd used and how to read it. It could be useful information to have in the future.
As he gave Romilda some sort of relief, Theo relaxed a bit. She seemed better, and was asking questions.

'You were poisoned, probably by Bellatrix,' he answered. 'And the next time I advise you not to go looking for information I'd suggest you take the advice,' he added, just as Mimsy popped into the room with a tray with soup.

He turned to Severus. 'Is it alright for her to eat, or should Mimsy come back later?' he asked.
