Warnings:Summary: Theo brings Romy someplace safe
Completion: Complete

As they arrived in the house, Theo hoped the tug of the portkey hadn't made her worse. As she coughed up more blood, he swore, and put her down on the bed in the guest bedroom.

'Mimsy!' He called, putting Romilda down as the elf appeared. 'I need a bezoar, and water, and a cloth, then I need parchment, ink and quill…and Zephyr,' he added as an afterthought.

No doubt Rodolphus would keep track now, he couldn't show him that he was in contact with Snape. And he desperately needed Snape to fix this, because if Orla hadn't been able to do more than temporarily stabilise her… well he needed an antidote to whatever it was she'd been given. And fast.

Fuck, he didn't like it when he couldn't fulfil his promises. Though in all honesty if the stupid bint hadn't tried to get information. He nearly growled.

A pop alerted him to Mimsy's arrival, and he quickly took the bezoar and the water, tilting Romilda's head back as he forced the bezoar down her throat.

'Just swallow, it will allow you to hold on until we can find an antidote,' he said letting her drink, hoping she wouldn't cough it all up again, or slip back into unconsciousness.

Theo snorted as she spoke, knowing his godfather enough to know how charming he could be. Biting back most of his remarks, he kept feeding her the soup slowly, knowing she needed the nutrition, but not wanting to rush her.

'Do you mind telling me why you did not call on me when you realised you were not going to be let go?' he asked, forcing his voice to be calm. 'I might have been on my honeymoon, but I did bring the mirror with me. I do not take my word lightly, though you do make it hard to protect you when you get involved with people like Rodolphus and Bellatrix.'

The professor's words bit through her, and he kept harping on the fact that Bellatrix was Rodolphus' wife. Romilda's head hurt at the thought, but right now she wanted to mourn the child she had lost. Bellatrix had no right to take Romilda's child away, not when she couldn't, or wouldn't give Rodolphus the one thing he wanted. Call it what he will, Romilda knew that Rodolphus had wanted their child. Everyone could say what they wanted, but she knew that much to be true.

She could tell by the look on the professor's face, that he didn't think much of her. But then again, she had been used to that look at school the couple of years he had been her teacher.

Romilda turned back to her soup, not wanting to let the professor goad her. He was brewing an antidote, and she knew she was in his debt for that.

Having heard Theo's question, she nodded, and lowered her eyes submissively. "I had only stepped out for what I thought was a few minutes and I left my bag at home. By the time I realised I didn't have it, the portkey Rodolphus gave me took me to France, and I couldn't go back. There was abject apology in her eyes for her transgression, and she knew she deserved whatever punishment Theo would dish out.

She bit her lip and nodded, knowing when to keep her mouth shut lest she dig herself in deeper. A deep, dull pain twisted at her stomach as the soup began to take hold, and she clutched at her belly. "Enough," she whispered to Theo, pushing the soup away.

Taking some short breaths through the pain, she looked up at Theo. "Have you told Millicent?" she asked? When can I see my son?"

There was a thousand things Theo could say to her about her stupidity, but now really wasn't the proper time, instead he settled for the apology on her face and said nothing, until she pushed the soup away and asked for Millicent.

'Mimsy?' he called, but the elf didn't answer. 'A letter is being delivered,' he then said. 'She'll be here soon, shortly after Mimsy answers my call.'

He got up from the bed, and watched as Severus prepared the antidote. A few moments later Mimsy appeared.

'Master Theo called,' she said, and Theo smiled at her.

'The delivery went well I hope,' he said softly. Mimsy nodded.

'Good. Then you can take the soup.'

Romilda heard Theo call for the elf, and heard him say she would be there soon. That thought did make her brighten up, and much of her concern lifted. She was utterly exhausted, and knew she was far from being well, but she just had to see Liam with her own eyes, and to offer up an apology for Millicent.

She was still in her soiled nightclothes, and from some combination of soup and potions, she was feeling a little more like herself. "Could you cast a cleaning spell?" she asked Theo, realising now for the first time that Rodolphus must still have her wand. It had been mere weeks since she had done magic. It felt like a lifetime.

Theo felt the pull of the magic in the wards as Romilda asked for a cleaning spell, and cast it just as he heard Millicent's voice.

'A moment,' he said, leaving the room and heading downstairs, slightly taken aback by the sight of two children there.

'Who are you?' both of them asked at once, and it was clear that Millicent had not told them why they were here.

'I'm Theo, and I know your mothers,' he told them, eyeing the boy up more than the girl. So this was Bletchley's kid, he hoped the kid was smarter than his parents. 'Millicent,' he said with a nod.

He turned back to the children, and to Liam. 'Your mother is upstairs, Liam, but she's not feeling well so 'It's very important that you're quiet and still,' he said. 'If you shout or jump on the bed she can get hurt,' he added. He was not prepared to have small hands wrapping around his legs the moment later, and for a moment he just stared at the boy before bringing his hand to pat his back.

Liam was surprised when 'Cent rushed them both out of the house to go for a quick walk. No matter how many times he asked where they were going (and no matter how many times Ella wanted to go back to get her tiara), 'Cent kept walking. She said there was a surprise, so they tried to be good.

Liam looked up at the man who answered the door. He looked straight down at Liam and he grinned. He almost didn't believe it when he said that Mummy was upstairs, and he wanted to race up there. But there was a tone in the man - Theo's voice that told him he had to be good. Mummy was sick.

He could be good when Mummy was sick. He had done that before. But he didn't want Mummy to go away again, and he hugged Mr Theo's legs. "Thank you for getting my Mummy back," he said, looking up at the man and not knowing if he wanted to grin, or cry. "You're a good pirate!"

He looked up at Mr Theo, and then at 'Cent and Ella. "Can we see Mummy now, please?" He remembered his manners, and wanted to tell Mummy everything that had happened, and how he had found a daddy and how he was going to be the ring bear for Miss Verty, and how he was going to Paris with Miss Verty. He was far too excited, and squeezed Ella's hand.

Theo looked at the boy as he thanked him, and looked to Millicent when the boy said he was a good pirate.

'You're welcome,' he said simply, once more rubbing the boy on the back. 'And yes, you can see your mummy, but only if you promise to be quiet and not climb up on the bed, she's very sick. A...' he thought for a moment, then connected to the boys own words. 'A bad pirate hurt her,' he said. 'But she's going to be better,' he added quickly as he led them upstairs, not wanting to scare the boy.

After all, it may be Bletchley's child, but he was still just a child and hadn't deserved any of this. Too bad his parents didn't have a brain cell between them.
