Characters: Theo, Romilda, Severus, Millicent, Liam and Ella
Location: 10 Harmonia Street
Private/Public: Private
Rating: PG
Warnings:Summary: Theo brings Romy someplace safe
Completion: Complete

As they arrived in the house, Theo hoped the tug of the portkey hadn't made her worse. As she coughed up more blood, he swore, and put her down on the bed in the guest bedroom.

'Mimsy!' He called, putting Romilda down as the elf appeared. 'I need a bezoar, and water, and a cloth, then I need parchment, ink and quill…and Zephyr,' he added as an afterthought.

No doubt Rodolphus would keep track now, he couldn't show him that he was in contact with Snape. And he desperately needed Snape to fix this, because if Orla hadn't been able to do more than temporarily stabilise her… well he needed an antidote to whatever it was she'd been given. And fast.

Fuck, he didn't like it when he couldn't fulfil his promises. Though in all honesty if the stupid bint hadn't tried to get information. He nearly growled.

A pop alerted him to Mimsy's arrival, and he quickly took the bezoar and the water, tilting Romilda's head back as he forced the bezoar down her throat.

'Just swallow, it will allow you to hold on until we can find an antidote,' he said letting her drink, hoping she wouldn't cough it all up again, or slip back into unconsciousness.

Ella didn't like that Liam's mummy looked ill, and she didn't like 'fessor Snape's voice. He sounded angry, and she didn't want to have done anything wrong.

As Mr Theo asked her if she liked ice-cream she nodded, but she was still worried, and before they left she tugged Mr Theo's robes.

'What's 'fessor Snape gonna do?' she asked. 'And is it gonna hurt Liam's mummy?'

He was just turning away, when the girl - Ella, he remembered - tugged his robes and asked if the treatment was going to hurt.

Looking at both children, Theo didn't quite know what to say. 'Professor Snape is going to make her better, and I don't know if it will hurt. Probably not too much,' he added, not wishing to scare them, before he ushered them out the door at the pop of Apparition. Turning Mimsy was there with a basin.

'Thank you, Mimsy. Would you be able to arrange some ice-cream for the chilren too?' he asked. Mimsy nodded and was gone in a minute.

'Right, so now what?' Theo asked, having a good idea thanks to the basin and not liking it at all.

Severus picked up the goblet and basin and walked over to Romilda's bed. He placed goblet and basin on the bedside table then helped Romilda's sit up, despite the pain.

"The antidote will purge the plant extracts from your system," he said briskly as he picked up the basin and placed it in Romilda's lap. "It will also purge the blood from your lungs and stomach. It is going to be very unpleasant and will probably hurt."

He picked up the goblet and help it to her mouth, not wanting to risk her dropping or spilling the potion.

"Drink. All of it," he ordered.

Once she had, he put the goblet down on the bedside table, picked up the basin and shifted so that he was partially supporting her, the basin ready for what he knew was coming.

Romilda knew this wasn't the place for Liam and gave him an encouraging wink when Professor Snape barked for them all to leave the room. She managed a small nod at Ella before Millicent ushered them out of the room.

This all felt surreal, and she winced when the Professor helped her to sit up. The pain was no longer dull, and she felt the sharp stab in her midsection. True it was going to hurt, but right now, she was beginning to wonder if she was ever going to not hurt.

She drank slowly, but almost gagged from the first mouthful. Looking up at the Professor, she saw that he was offering no sympathy whatsoever. She eventually swallowed it all down, wanting to retch from the vile taste.

It burned going down, and she could feel the potion colliding with the contents of her stomach. Within seconds, her body reacted instinctively as the contents of her stomach (and what felt like her actual stomach) began to expel.

Romilda never wanted to relive those next few minutes, but with each cough, she found an ounce of her righteous anger, aimed at Bellatrix. The bitch wasn't going to defeat Romilda, and now she knew that as the poisons were being purged from her system, that she had won.

The thought got her through those moments, not knowing or caring that Snape and Theo were there. By the time her body stopped voluntarily retching, she took a deep breath - her throat afire. "Water," she begged, wanting to wash away the taste before falling to her pillow in exhaustion.

Severus watched impassively as the potion went to work. He knew it would be drawing out whatever had been absorbed by her body and least she'd only ingested the plant extracts by one route. It made it easier to draw them out.

Once she was finished, he handed the basin to Titchy. "There is a bezoar in there somewhere. Do not lose it. And make sure you clean it."

The bezoar should still be viable and they were valuable enough to not want to lose. He knew others might be appalled at the very idea of reusing such a thing but he was not one to waste anything valuable.

When Romilda asked for water, he looked around and saw a glass of water on the bedside table. He picked it up and held it for her to drink. Once she had, he put it back on the bedside table then got up. He picked up the goblet and returned to the cauldron and started to prepare another dose.

"That should have purged the bulk of the poisons out of her system," he said to Theo as he strained the more of the potion through the muslin into the goblet. "I will leave another dose of the antidote with you. Only give it to her if she starts to deteriorate again. Keep her food light and bland for a few days until her stomach is able to handle more. She is to stay in bed for that time as well. I'd also recommend getting a Healer in, if you have one you can trust, to make sure that the miscarriage hasn't caused any damage."

Titchy had returned by this point and Severus nodded to the equipment. "Pack this up and take it back."

Titchy nodded and a moment later everything except the table and the goblet full of antidote was gone. Severus transformed the stone back to carpet then walked over and closed and picked up his chest of antidotes.

"You know where I am if you need me," he said as he walked out the door.

Theo cast a silencing charm on the room the moment Severus gave Romilda the potion, having a feeling this would be more painful than he'd told the children, and not wanting to scare them.

As Romilda reacted to the potion, he was glad he had put it up.

When it was all over, he stood back and watched the events unfold, nodded to Severus at his instructions and said his goodbyes as Severus left.

He'd let the children come in in a moment, but for now, he needed to talk to Romilda on his own. Walking up to the bed, he sat down on the foot of it.

'Feeling better?' he asked.

Romilda drank greedily, but knew not to overdo it. Listening in to the Professor and Theo, she groaned at the thought this might not be over if she needed to go through that again.

Laying back against the pillow, she heard Theo's question. "A little," she replied. "I'd like some sleep," she admitted softly.

"Thank you again," she repeated her earlier words. "And I should have known to take my mirror with me."

'I'll leave you to sleep in a bit,' Theo said, his voice softer than normally when he spoke to her.

'And there is no need to thank me, we had a deal. I'm holding up my end of the bargain,' he said. 'However, you should have known, or tried to summon me anyway, or done something to indicate that you were in danger. Just know that Rodolphus might as well have let you die as contacted me. I know he's probably been very charming towards you, but he is a dangerous man. Trust me on that, because I've seen more side of him than most.'

Sighing, he got up from the bed. 'We can talk more once you've slept, and you'll stay here for a few days until you're feeling better. I'll get a healer here for you.'

'Also, once you leave, we need to decide what you say. Because one, I don't want to be implied, and two, if you tell the truth you'll most likely never see your son again. Rodolphus has no more need to keep the pressure on Bletchley anymore, and if Bletchley realises that he might take him back. With this,' he gestured towards her and the room. 'He'll have a fantastically strong case. You won't stand a chance, so you'll have to try and play this smart, which means listening to those around you.'

Theo never spoke to her that softly, but Romilda suspected it was only a matter of time before she got the lecture she knew she was owed.

She nodded. "He took my wand before I could try anything," she said in a monotone, suddenly realising that Rodolphus must still have it.

Again he was speaking of how Rodolphus could have very easily let her die. A part of her thought he might have let her go out of some sense of love, but another part of her knew it would be a long time before she ever saw Rodolphus again.

Nodding absently at his words, she thought about Anthony. A pang of regret went through her. Would he ever forgive her for this?

At the mention of Liam and of Miles, her eyes narrowed. She was listening now. "You helped get him away from Miles?" she asked, realising already he must have been behind that.

She lowered her eyes as she realised that if the whole truth of this matter came out, things could get exceedingly unpleasant. Taking a deep breath, (and feeling a pain in her side from all her coughing) she nodded. "I understand. We'll think of a story."

'I asked Rodolphus for a favour,' he said. 'He granted it to me because he didn't grant my request to let you go,' he said.

'And no, we won't think of a story, I'll think of a story, and you'll play your part.

He sighed, and moved to make the room darker. 'Sleep now, and if you need anything Mimsy will be here to service you. I'll be back in a couple of days to check on you and Millicent and the children will be able to visit.'

Romilda was surprised that Theo was close enough to Rodolphus to ask for a favour, but then again, she really knew little about Theo that he didn't want her to know.

She couldn't help but close her eyes at his chastisement.

There must have been something in that antidote that was fuelling her need to sleep, as her eyes were feeling heavy. "Yes, Theo," she said, grateful for everything, but knowing he wouldn't want her thanks. He'd want her obedience. That much was perfectly clear.
