RP: A Night Out At The Club
Date: 5 June 2005
Characters: Rodolphus Lestrange, Romilda Vane
Location: The Casino of Sidi al'Nasir
Private/Public: Private
Rating: PG
Warnings: Excessive flirting
Summary: Rodolphus takes Romilda out for a night of fine dining and subtle seduction.
Completion: Complete

Rodolphus adjusted the collar of his tuxedo and straightened his bow tie. He had given the house elves strict orders that he was not to be disturbed this evening, no owls, no urgent messages, nothing. Rastaban could deal with anything that came up. He had more interesting and certainly far more pleasant plans. He’d briefly contemplated cancelling them in the light of Severus’ escape but had dismissed that just as quickly. He didn’t want to give Romilda a chance to second guess either him or herself.

Once he was ready he pulled on his cloak and apparated to an alley just around from the club then walked up to the front doors. He was quickly admitted and he handed his cloak over to the attendant.

"I have a young lady portkeying in shortly," he said when the attendant returned.

"Do you wish to wait for her here, sir, or in the saloon?" the attendant said with a single nod.

Rodolphus considered the matter for a moment. "I believe I shall wait for her myself."

"Very good, sir," the attendant replied. "Would you like a drink while you are waiting?"

"No, thank you," Rodolphus replied. "I shall wait for my guest."

"Very good, sir," the attendant replied before gliding off to his corner.

Rodolphus clasped his hand behind his back and began to pacing idly as he waited for Romilda.

Romilda had nervously made herself ready for dinner at the casino and club with Rodolphus Lestrange. Rosmerta had not questioned her when she left Liam with her for the evening, as Ella was there as well whilst Millicent worked.

Putting on one of the dresses she had bought whilst out shopping with Antonin the week before, she wondered -- not for the first time -- why she had accepted this invitation. This was Rodolphus Lestrange.

A small part of her brain wanted her to stay home, and not take the portkey. Another part - the part that was reckless and Gryffindorish - told her it would be unwise to decline what seemed to be a genuine dinner invitation with a man who had a very dangerous reputation. She didn't think it was wise to upset him by not showing up.

Besides, after meeting him, and realising he was just a gentleman -- who treated her as something a whole lot more than just a whore -- she found she was just a little more than curious to have dinner with him.

Antonin had been a Death Eater once, she thought to herself as she pushed away the voice of concern.

Putting on the last touch of her makeup charms, she tamed a stray curl that didn't want to sit right in her hair. Looking at the clock, she buckled her shoe and was just in time to grab the portkey.

Whisked away, she landed gracefully (on her feet) in an alcove at the side of the foyer. That stray curl had sprung astray, and she quickly adjusted it. She quickly checked her cloak with the attendant, turning and spotting Rodolphus waiting for her.

Taking a deep breath, she gave a warm smile as she walked his way. "Rodolphus, thank you again for the invitation. I hope you weren't waiting long."

Rodolphus turned when he heard the sound of someone apparating in then smiled warmly with a look of open admiration as Romilda approached.

"Good evening, Romilda," he said as he took her hand and kissed it. "No, I have only just arrived myself. And may I say that you look very beautiful tonight."

He offered her his arm. "I was thinking that we would have an aperitif in the saloon before dining if that's alright with you?"

Romilda saw his warm smile, and she relaxed, finally quietening that voice of dissent in her head. He wasn't wearing Death Eater robes, and he looked rather... debonair... in his tuxedo. She returned his warm smile as he kissed her hand.

"Why thank you," she said to his compliment, so pleased now that she let Antonin buy her at least two dresses from Armani. It really would not have been prudent to wear the same dress twice running to the same club.

Taking his arm, she let him guide her to the saloon. "An aperitif sounds lovely. A wine would be lovely. What do you recommend?" Romilda knew good wine from bad, but she rarely got the chance to drink anything that was good.

"I have to say I didn't think I would find myself back here quite so soon. A working girl like me could very easily get used to it." She tried not to let the opulence of the place overawe her, but she still thought it was quite opulent.

Rodolphus was pleased to see Romilda relax. He'd noticed she was a bit tense; no doubt Antonin had warned her off and her own mind had been chastising her about accepting his invitation. But he'd always prided himself on being a gentleman... albeit perhaps the widest possible definition of a gentleman.

He guided her into the saloon, an opulently decorated room full of rich hangings, exquisite paintings and elegant but comfortable furniture.

"If you prefer a white wine then I'd recommend a Pascal Jolivet Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley," he said after a moment of thought. "For a red, I would recommend the Domaine De La Romanee Conte Pinot Noir from Burgundy."

He paused and chuckled. "I'll admit I tend to favour French wines. My family originally comes from France and we still maintain an estate there."

He smiled at her as he guided her over to a small alcove with windows that overlooked the street outside. Two comfortable armchairs sat in the alcove and he gestured for her to be seated.

"I think that any woman should become used to a place like this," he said warmly. "A pub is good enough for a drink and a quick meal but when it comes to dining with a fine woman, to make her feel appreciated, well, a man should make an effort to make it special. Where better than a place like the Casino?"

As he said this a waiter seemed to materialise beside them and waited expectantly for their orders, deferring first to Romilda.

Romilda took the proffered seat in the alcove, glancing only momentarily at the view from outside the window. It had been raining and the streets shone in the glistening light of the street lamps.

She listened as he explained the wines. They both sounded lovely -- not to mention expensive. "Oh, I think I'll have the Sauvignon Blanc. I have heard many good things about the Loire Valley," she added, remembering stories from her mother.

She seemed interested at the mention of the Lestranges having an estate in France. "My mother was French," she said quietly. "From the Le Bon's. They have estates in the south of France, in a small village called Roussillon, in Vaucluse. I believe they still have a very small vineyard, but I believe the wines are very nice."

That was twice now in a week she had spoken of her mother, and her French heritage. She felt the need to explain more. "Mother was born here, to French parents, although she met my father when he went to study in Paris."

A slight blush rose on her cheeks at his complement about making her feel appreciated. "Yes, well apart from Draco Malfoy's new club in Hogsmeade, there really aren't very many places around with such class and style. Although it still doesn't compare to here. Although you wouldn't expect to get the undesirables who often like to hang around the Three Broomsticks."

When the waiter appeared, she gave him a pleasant smile. Having worked a bar, there was no need to be rude to wait staff. "I'll have a glass of the Pascal Jolivet Sauvignon Blanc, thank you."

Romilda saw a very brief shadow of something that crossed over Rodolphus' face. It was very similar to the look she saw in Dennis' face, and knew to end the conversation there.

Her change in conversation seemed to have worked, as his mood shifted, and he even became a little cheeky once more. "Hmmmm, the anticipation can often be as exciting as the actual surprise," she said, her eyebrow raised as she smirked.

The amusement in his face did make her smile, and she laughed. "Yes, well you will make these promises to me, and you wouldn't want to go and disappoint a girl now, would you?" Her wine glass was emptying rapidly, but she was starting to feel hungry. She knew not to drink too much wine on an empty stomach, and she had every intention of keeping her wits about her tonight.

Rodolphus chuckled and gave Romilda a wicked look. "Oh, I like anticipation. I like the way it winds itself up your spine and just waits, keeping you edge until you fall over into... the surprise."

He finished his drink and put the glass down on the small table between the two chairs. "Well, since I hardly want to be the one to stand between a woman and her... dessert, shall we adjourn to the dining room?"

Her breath hitched just ever so slightly when Rodolphus talked. She could almost feel it coiling up her spine right now, and she pushed away the urge to close her eyes and take a deep breath.

"Oh, I think that would be a wide choice." Taking his arm as he stood, they made their way to the dining room. A table was ready for them, and with well practiced ease she allowed the waiter to seat her and pull out her napkin. He filled their water glasses as another waiter came to hand them menus.

"What does chef recommend tonight?" she asked before even looking at a menu.

Rodolphus grinned as he got to his feet and escorted Romilda into the dining room, exhibiting just the barest limp. He'd made sure to take a potion before he came here. His knee was a weakness that few knew about but he wasn't overly concerned if she reported it back to someone. He just preferred to minimise it and not have to concern himself with it when he was out for the evening.

Once they were seated, the waiter came over and handed them the menus and Romilda immediately asked for the chef's recommendation, much to Rodolphus' amusement. He liked a forward woman.

The waiter didn't even blink. "For the entree, the scallops are fresh in this morning. They are lightly seared and served with confit pork belly, celeraic puree, celery oil and spiced tomato. For the main, the chef recommends either the duck and wild mushroom-filled tortellini, served with intense duck jus and caramelised pear or the venison 'in salmi' which has been slow braised in a rich red wine sauce and is finished with dark chocolate and served with chestnut, pea and beetroot puree and white polenta."

The chef's recommendations did sound absolutely delicious, and she looked over to Rodolphus. "Well, I do think it would be a shame to let such fresh scallops go to waste. And how could I say no to the venison if it is finished with dark chocolate?"

She deferred to Rodolphus to make his choice for the meal, watching him carefully as he considered his own meal. This was turning out to be quite the experience, and nothing like she had suspected. She was... enjoying herself, and he was a perfect expert at flirting, which she found to be a very exciting challenge.

After Rodolphus placed his dinner order, the wine waiter came around and Rodolphus chose a wine that was suitable for their meals. When he left, she let her mind wander. "I often wonder what makes a chef think to put chocolate on a steak. What makes them think that the two would go together?" It was truly a work of a genius to be able to successfully pull off a menu like that.

"I mean, I never thought that passionfruit through pumpkin soup would work, but it does. Sweetens it. Are these guys simply geniuses, or did they do it by accident, like when I craved hot chips in ice-cream during my pregnancy?"

She realised she was rambling and blushed. "And there you have an insight into the rather bizarre mind of Romilda Vane."

Rodolphus chuckled. "Well, if your son is as fine as you have described then Miles' contribution can't have been too bad. Though I suppose that begins an entire debate on the subject of nuture versus nature that we might not finish if we talked about it until the end of time."

He watched her glance around the club, admiring all that she saw. "How exclusive? An interesting question. The club caters to both Muggles and the wizarding world so blood purity is irrelevant. You must have a certain amount of financial security behind you. It is a casino after all. But mostly membership requires being nominated and seconded by existing members. My father nominated me when I came of age and a friend of his seconded me. Every member goes through a probation period of twelve months where they are required to attend a certain number of functions to allow other members to get to know them and determine if they are suitable. Once you have passed that probation period, you are a member for life... as long as you pay your yearly dues and don't break any rules."

He raised an eyebrow as he took a sip of the red wine he'd ordered for their main course.

"And what different decisions would you make, if you were so able?" he asked, genuinely curious. "If you don't mind me asking?"

His interest grew when she revealed she'd talked the Sorting Hat out of putting her in Slytherin. "It would have changed things," he said plainly. "Of that I have no doubt. You would have been a formidable Slytherin, just as you are a formidable Gryffindor." He smiled wickedly. "We might even have got to know each other much earlier. Slytherins do tend to mark and get to know other Slytherins."

She did snort at the mention of Miles. "I had hoped his only contribution had been at conception, and even now I try to curb any of his father's more undesirable behaviours when I see them."

She listened to the rules of the club, and seemed intrigued by the process taken to become a member. "So tell me, are there any women members?" She was just idly curious and wondered if they still held to the strictures of a men's only club, with the ladies only there as guests.

The wine went down well and accompanied the rich meal. She would be the size of a house if she ate like that every night. But it was a delectable indulgence. "Oh, well obviously, I might have let the hat put me in Slytherin. Perhaps things might have also been different had I not been transfixed on a certain hero figure at school during my time." Yes, what if she had not focussed every fibre of her being on Harry? Would she have been caught moping in that hallway when Theo first met her? Would he have used the in the ways he had if she were a Slytherin?

"To mark?" now that was an interesting concept. Was he talking about some sort of dark mark? "And did all Slytherins get marked? What if one didn't hold to such things? Just speculating, of course." She was touching on dangerous territory, she thought, but that hint of fire in his eyes... had it been a trick of the light? She wouldn't know until she saw it again.

Rodolphus frowned slightly. "I had hoped that he would behave himself but perhaps now is not the time to speak of such unpleasant things."

"I am afraid the owners are still somewhat archaic in their attitudes," he said with a chuckle. "It is a gentlemen's club but women are permitted as guests at almost any time and into almost any room. Perhaps someday they will change their minds." He smiled slyly. "And when they do, shall I nominate you?"

He eyed her curiously. Hero figure? It didn't take long to put the puzzle pieces in place, taking into account her age and a certain notorious individual who had also been in Gryffindor.

"Ah, Harry Potter," he said with a shake of his head. "Lord Voldemort was unfortunately equally as obsessed with the boy, to his own detriment. He would not listen to anything anyone said against his obsession either." He raised an eyebrow at Romilda. "You seem to overcome what Voldemort could not."

He chuckled. "You mistake my meaning, my dear. I meant mark as in take note of. Though certainly Voldemort did mark us literally as well." He sobered and looked thoughtful. "Voldemort changed over the years. At first he would convince and cajole, even seduce both literally and figuratively, to gain his followers but later he became... somewhat inflexible." He leaned back in his seat. "Many refused him though, subtly of course. Mostly by prevaricating and holding out for better inducements. Others were held out for other reasons, mostly because the Dark Mark would have been dangerous for them to wear."

He had no problems telling her this. The Dark Lord was dead and the power in the Dark Marks had faded with the marks themselves. And he was not as inflexible as his former Master as his treatment of Adrain and his request had shown.

"Oh no," she laughed. "I think you misunderstand. If Liam displays any behaviour I suspect he's inherited from his father, I'll do my hardest to stamp it out. Miles was a bully at school, and I won't have my son terrorising other students. Or fighting."

"Oh, I'm quite happy to remain a guest," she said, waving his hand away. "I sometimes have terrible difficulty sticking to rules. I believe I might make a terrible member."

Rodolphus didn't take long to work out she'd been obsessed with Harry. "Well, when one doesn't have one's affections returned, one tends to turn elsewhere. We're friends of a sort now, you might say." She remembered the day he came to tell her he'd protect Liam from Miles if it came to that. It was crazy how things turned out.

She listened as he spoke of Voldemort and dark marks, her skin shivering at the very thought of it. "Why could one man change so much?" she asked, not realising what she said. "Was it power? Obsession?" She had never seen a mark on Miles, and suspected that he didn't have one because of school, or his Quidditch career. Her eyes dropped to Rodolphus' arm, and back for a flicker of a second.

"Ah," Rodolphus said in understanding. "Quite wise. And quite commendable."

He chuckled. "Most of the rules pertain to appropriate behaviour and more than one member has struggled on occasion. But certainly shuld you wish to return, I would be... delighted to offer further invitations."

Rodolphus decided to leave the subject of Potter alone. He had mixed feelings about the boy... well, young man now. While Potter's defeat of the Dark Lord had allowed he, his brother and his wife to take over, Potter was still a dangerous opponent that would have to be dealt with when the time came.

He frowned a little, thinking back to his days among the Death Eaters. "Perhaps a bit of both. Voldemort wanted power, true enough, but obsession was probably the greater reason. He wanted to live forever and gain power beyond all other men. He experimented deeply in the Dark Arts, uncaring of the consequences as long as the spell succeeded. In the end, I'm not entirely sure how human he was... or how sane he was for that matter. It was... sad, watching a charismatic man whom I greatly admired become a monster."

He saw her eyes flicker down to his left forearm and he paused for a moment before drawing back his sleeve to reveal the pale, almost invisible remains of the Dark Mark. He wondered what she would do; would she draw back? Or would she reach out and touch it? Would it repel her or arouse her curiosity?

Rodolphus watched as Romilda thought and finished her dessert. He let her do so, concentrating on his wine and his cheese. He knew that now was the time to pull back a little. He knew what he wanted but now she had to think about what she wanted. He doubted she'd make the decision tonight but the next time he contacted her with an invitation, which he fully intended to do, he would probably get his answer. If she politely declined then he would know that the possible consequences were too much for her. If she accepted then the game could continue.

"What's the old saying... all things in moderation?" he said lightly, deliberately toning down the flirting. He didn't want her to feel pressured.

He finished off his own wine then smiled at her. "You are most welcome. Now, do you need to return to your son or shall we stroll through the club and see what game catches your eye? Or perhaps we should see what the band is playing tonight?"

He gave her the out, just in case she felt she needed it but he was hoping she would stay.

"Moderation, yes," she nodded, thinking of many things she could apply that to. "It's often resisting the temptation in the first place that can be the hardest thing." That too, could apply to her, and a great many things.

She had seen the dancefloor the last time she had been with Antonin, and she didn't need to go back to Liam, who was probably sound asleep at Rosmerta's by now. "No, Liam is fine with Rosmerta. It's rare enough I get these nights away from him, and as much as I love him, I do enjoy some time to myself. Well, time when I'm not being his mother, if that makes sense."

"Antonin's already shown me around the dancefloor, but you said there were many simple games in progress, perhaps we might find one that I might like, or even better, be good at playing." She gave him a genuine grin at that thought.

"Besides, I do believe a nice walk around the club would aid digestion, particularly after all that chocolate."

Rodolphus rose to his feet and walked around the table, offering his hand to Romilda. He was pleased that she'd chosen to stay, though he wouldn't have been discouraged if she'd chosen to leave.

Once she stood, he tucked her hand through his arm and they strolled out of the dining room.

"Th ground floor is the most public area of the club," he said as they ambled along. Many of the rooms they passed had open doors, revealing small groups of people gathered around various types of tables. "Obviously the saloon and the dining room are here as are some of the larger gaming rooms. Those are all casino games though. I don't much care for them. Although there is a small amount of strategy involved, they are still merely games of chance. Your fate lies with the draw of the card, the fall of the ball or the roll of the dice."

He gestured towards a closed door. "That door leads to the basement. The gymnasium and the swimming pool are down there but I'm afraid that area is members only."

They walked over to the stairs and meandered up them to the first floor. "There is a smaller members only dining room on this floor as well as the library," he said, showing her the public rooms. "The smoking room is here as well as a couple of quieter rooms devoted to certain board games. Chess, backgammon, Go, checkers and senet to name a few. This is the floor I usually choose to inhabit when I am here. Most of the games here require years to learn properly but I think the second floor will provide a game you will like."

He led her over to the stairs and up to the second floor. "This floor has some private reading rooms as well as a few meeting rooms for those who wish to conduct some business here," he said, showing her the lavishly appointed rooms. "But here is the room I was after."

He opened the door to the room and was pleased to see that they had it to themselves for the moment. It was a large wood-paneled room with three full size billiard tables, two set up for games of snooker and the third, the closest to them, set up for a game of pool. A fully-stocked bar sat on the far side of the room and the bartender was cleaning glasses though he looked up as they walked in and smiled politely.

"Have you played snooker or pool before?" he asked, leading her over to the closest table.

She noted the various rooms in the club as he walked her around, her hand firmly tucked in his arm. The casino games seemed somewhat thrilling and exciting as there seemed to be plenty of shouts and cheers coming from some of the tables. "I guess some people enjoy the thrill and anticipation of chance. Those that believe in fate, or luck."

She watched as a player placed numerous chips on one square of the board as the croupier spun the roulette wheel. The air was thick with anticipation as the waited to see if the number had come up. The croupier called the number and everyone looked dejected. Romilda felt a pang of sympathy. "Now there is a practical use for divination, if I ever saw one," she said with a chuckle.

"Is there wizarding chess," she asked as they made their way to the first floor rooms. So far all the games looked to be of the muggle variation. "I would think with such a diverse membership, the club would cater to some of those games?"

The club truly had thought of nearly everything, and she was admiring the rooms as the made their way to the second floor. When Rodolphus smiled and found the room they were looking for, she was surprised to find it empty.

She saw some billiards tables and the boards set up for various games. Now here was something interesting. She had seen this game played. Had tried to understand it. When he asked if she had played, she just burst out laughing.

"Miles tried to explain it to me once, but he was too busy hustling other players and conning them out of their coins, that I really didn't understand. He made it look easy, but I suspect it is far from so."

"Perhaps you can teach me how to play properly," she asked, hoping he would.

Rodolphus chuckled as they watched a small group lose some money on the roulette wheel. "A pity most avenues of Divination do not work well on games of chance. Most branches give results that are... often ambiguous and need to be interpreted. Not something that would help in the casino."

He nodded. "Yes, there is wizarding chess but the more open games are all Muggle. For appearances more than anything else since membership is open to both worlds. I have played wizarding chess with some of the Muggles here and they find it quite exhilarating."

He was surprised when she burst out laughing at his question but her reply quickly gave him his answer.

"Ah yes, it is often used for such purposes," he said with amusement. "Though the best I've seen at that particular ruse have all been women. They play the innocent, batting their eyelids and looking innocent, pretending they don't know how to play. It's quite amusing."

He led her over to the table and grinned. "The rules of the game are simple enough and playing it is simply a matter of concentration and a little bit of calculation. This table is set up for pool or eight-ball as it is also know. Fifteen numbered balls - the solid colour balls are generally referred to as large or bigs, the ones with the band of colour are referred to as smalls. Seven of each. The black or eight ball is a special case. The white ball is called the cue ball."

He waved a hand over towards the cues. "Those are the cues. Once the starting triangle is broken, the players try to sink one of the balls. The first to sink one gets that collection, either bigs or smalls. The other player takes what's left. The aim is to sink all of your balls before your opponent does. And once you have sunk all of your balls, you try and sink the eight ball."

He leaned against the table and detailed a few of the basic rules of general play then grinned at her.

"Have I confused you yet? Before we start playing, since the easiest way to learn properly is to play, would you like a drink?"

"Yes," she nodded, "it was probably that same propaganda." Not surprised he admitted that his home was well guarded, she smiled. A rematch. Yes, that would be a good way to put it.

"I trust you know more about a suitable venue," she said, letting him decide where. But then he let her decide when. She watched him there, leaning against the wall in his tuxedo, and found that she would not have been able to say no to another invitation if she had tried. He cut quite the dashing figure, not missing the gleam in his eyes.

"Hmmm, well I do have to take Liam to Malfoy Manor on my next day off," she explained. "Supervised access for Miles, although why on earth Draco has seen to get himself involved, I don't know..." She shook her head, thinking of her schedule. Anthony was working on Saturday night, so she could probably...

"I do believe that I can find a slot in my busy schedule on next Saturday evening for the idle lord of the Manor. That doesn't clash with any virgin sacrifices?" She chuckled, a cheeky pout on her lips. The fact she was doing this made her adrenaline pump through her system, and she was feeling quite cheeky.

"Yes, indeed," he said with a smile. "This one would be more casual, of course. A bar t be precise. No need for the... truly beautiful dress." He let his eyes drift down her body then back up again. "Pity really."

He raised an eyebrow at that piece of information then smiled indulgently. "My nephew is fond of children. You can trust him, you know." He laughed. "As far as you can trust any Slytherin. He would never allow a child to come to harm, not even from their own parents. No matter why he is doing this, he will not allow Miles to do anything untoward."

He gave a genuine, pleased smile. "Saturday night it is then. I'll be sure to reschedule my weekly virgin sacrifice for another evening."

She could literally feel his eyes pouring over her body, but she was used to such attention. It did make her squirm a little, and she smirked. "I'm sure I have something that is suitable for a muggle bar. After all, I do work in a bar."

She nodded. "That does make me feel better. He's marrying Tracey, and her daughter is a beautiful little girl." She didn't know if Rodolphus knew that yet, but it was now public knowledge. "I just... it's Miles. Do I need to explain myself?"

Romilda downed the final mouthful of her drink, giving him a smile. "Saturday it is then." She saw the clock above the bar, and realised the time. "I have had a most pleasant and enjoyable evening, Rodolphus, but I'm afraid if I stay out any longer, my dress will turn to rags and my coach into a pumpkin. I should be thinking about getting home."

She put her hand on his arm, realising that it had been an unforgettable experience. Not that she could just waltz into work and tell everyone, of course.

Rodolphus gave her a sympathetic smile. "I do understand about Miles but Draco is quite capable of keeping him under control. I suspect Draco simply believes a boy must know his father. After all, his relationship with his father was always good. Lucius doted on his son." He walked over and took her hand, raising to his lips and kissing her knuckles. "Trust in Draco but be watchful. Miles is entirely capable of being a fool even when he's being watched."

He laughed. "Well, Cinderella, we'd best get you back down to the foyer. It's the only place where portkeys will work in the club."

When she placed her hand on his arm, he covered it with his own. He paused for a moment then leaned forward and pressed a single, chaste kiss to her lips. It was a bold move considering the dance they had been doing but he hadn't made it anything more than a simple thing... but still a promise of more and better if she wished.

He tucked her hand through his arm then gestured towards the door. "Shall we?"

She nodded at his advice about Draco, and Miles, knowing somewhere that there was some sense in his words about fathers and sons. But in all honesty, she would have preferred any man under the sun other than Miles was his father. "I have every intention of keeping both eyes firmly on him when he's around my son. I don't think even Miles knows the levels of stupidity he is capable of."

The kiss on the lips did surprise her for just a second, but she realised he hadn't overstepped any boundaries. She had been returning his flirting, and it was only quite chaste. Still, a part of her wondered...

She took a deep breath, smiling. They headed out the door, down towards the foyer. "It's been a most enlightening and entertaining evening." In so many ways.
