Ernie walked through the corridors of his family home, heading for the entrance foyer that lead to the East Wing. His parents were settled into their room for the evening and once again he felt a pang of regret for what had happened to them. They'd been at a party of all things, celebrating the death of Voldemort, when it had been attacked by the remnants of the Death Eaters. His parents had been terribly injured and he'd been horrified to find that even the best Healers at St Mungos had not been able to heal broken spinal cords and properly fix shattered bones.

He hadn't been at that party; he'd been at a party the Hufflepuffs had been holding and it wasn't until the Aurors had arrived to inform him that he'd known. He hasn't hesitated to chuck in his job at the Ministry to take care of his parents and administer the family estate. When it came to loyalties, family was far more important than a job and considering what he'd heard had happened in the Ministry after he'd left, he was actually a little glad he'd been out of there.

He did miss his friends though. The estate took up a lot of time and what was left usually went to his parents. He felt guilty at times for abandoning his friends but when he'd weighed his loyalties, his family just had to come first. They were family after all.

He sighed as he walked through the foyer, caught up in his thoughts and regrets.

Rab and Lisa Apparated about a half mile away from the MacMillian estate. As they walked, he could the excitement coming from his mate and equal. It matched his own, the adrenaline already flowing through his veins.

As they approached the house, he was amazed at how simple the wards were around the property. None for any real protection or detection. Still, he disillusioned them both as they walked through the field. He saw the livestock and equipment around, how much it looked as if a 'normal' family was here.

It disgusted him. Purebloods were supposed to live better than this.

They reached the steps of the house, breaking the disillusionment. "The time has arrived," he said to Lisa, kissing her hard. "Remember the plan... subdue the boy after we go in, make him wait and listen as we torture and kill his parents. Then, we have fun with him... but no permanent injury. He must be left alive to warn the others."

He leaned back on a pillar, waving his hand to the doors. "After you, my dear..."

Lisa was more than ready for tonight, she was excited and she could tell that Rab was also.

She rolled her eyes at how easy the wards were to get through, she would have liked more of a challenge.

Lisa moaned when Rab kissed her and smiled when he went over the plan again. "I'll make sure I hold myself back when we have our fun with him."

Lisa walked up the stairs casually and pointed her wand at the door. "Reducto." She watched as the doors were blasted open and walked in and spotted the Hufflepuff and pointed her wand at him. "Petrificus Totalus."

Ernie jumped and spun around, fumbling for his wand as the front doors were blasted open. His eyes widened as he saw who had walked in. The woman... he knew her. Lisa... Lisa something. She'd been in his year, a Ravenclaw.

His eyes widened even further when he saw who was behind her but before he could pull his wand out or even say a word, he felt the full body bind hit him and he fell to the ground, paralysed and helpless.

But why were they here? He'd kept his family out of the war, despite his own opinions, trying to protect his parents. He hadn't opposed the Lestranges. He'd done nothing to them.

He immediately struggled against the spell. He'd been in the DA, he'd fought against Voldemort, he could do this! He had to... his parents were all but helpless.

Rab gave a wicked smile as he walked behind Lisa. He stepped to the boy, his body bound tightly. No matter how much he struggled, he would not get free, as Lisa had grown powerful over the past months.

He looked around, raising an eyebrow at the staircase. "Hmmm... should we bring his with us and let him watch what we do to his parents," he said, propping his foot up on the boy's still body, "Or... should we leave him here and let him listen to their screams, making him wonder what we do to them?"

She smiled when she saw the Hufflepuff's reaction to her. She could tell he recognized her and it this all the more fun.

Lisa looked at the Hufflepuff and then looked back at Rab and smiled. "I say we leave him here and make him wonder. Much more fun that way but it's completely up to you."

Rab nodded. "Very well... it will do him some good to hear what's eventually in store for him." He added additional bonds to the boy, plus a charm that would make sure that he heard everything they were about to do.

They ascended the stairs, Rab's wand pointing the way as they walked down the hallway. They came to the double doors of a large room, kicking the doors open to surprise them. Rab looked at the man and woman in the large bed, noticing they had barely moved. He sensed fear from them, but also helplessness.

He shook his head. "How disappointing. They are already injured." He twirled his wand. "Ah well... we shall still have fun." He took Lisa's arm as he started to walk in. "Remember... they get one chance to join us. If they refuse... then you can have fun."

Lisa laughed at his glare, it would be much more effective if there wasn't lust in there also. She climbed up on the table between his legs. She looked him over for a moment. He had a nice body, nothing like her Rab's though.

She ran the fingernails of both hands up his thighs. "You are very lucky, Ernie. Do you know how many men would love to be in your position?" She gently brushed his cock and smiled. "Many."

Rab's smirk grew as he watched Lisa work her charms on the boy, all the while working the spell that would alter the deepest recesses of his mind. The changes he was implanting would not show right away or all at one. They would come suddenly and unexpectedly, the results ones that nobody would suspect from the nice, sweet Hufflepuff boy.

He finished, pulling Morag's knife from his robes. He nodded to Lisa, silently telling her to go ahead and take what she wished from the boy, his eyes roaming the boy's chest, trying to decide exactly where he would brand him.

Ernie shuddered as best as he could in his bonds. He couldn't imagine any sane man wanting to be within a bull's roar of Turpin... which explained Lestrange, he supposed.

He felt a flash of shame as his cock twitched at her touch and got harder. Then he glared at her as best he could, telling himself over and over that it wasn't him, it was the spell. He didn't want her, the spell was making his body react... it wasn't making his mind react. He loathed her, no magic could change that.

Lisa smiled when his cock twitched at her touch. She knew it was the spell but he would get off and he would have to live with the shame that he orgasmed because of her.

She loved the power she held over him and she was becoming aroused. She straddled him and positioning his cock at her entrance. She looked at Rab as she sank down on Ernie. "Oh fuck, Rab."

Rab watched as she straddle and took the boy's cock inside her. He shook his head as the boy tried to resist what came naturally. "Relax... enjoy what she's giving you. Not many get to experience such pleasures as I do."

He toyed with the knife in his hand, finally deciding where to brand the boy. He pointed his wand and began heating the knife, wanting to wait for the right moment to burn the design into him.

Ernie closed his eyes as Turpin lowered herself onto his cock, desperately chanting, It's not me, it's the spell, in his mind as lust rolled through him and his hips bucked up slightly.

He struggled to keep himself still and turned his head away, keeping his eyes scrunched closed. This would be over soon and then they would kill him and he could join his parents.

The news that the dark mark had been set over a house again had had the Aurory in an uproar. People had been running all over the place trying to find people to send as most of the Aurors were off duty today. It was Sunday, half of the Aurory had been to a wedding the night before - he had been to the wedding the night before and had only stepped into the office on the way to his flat (he refused to call it his home, especially after a night at the villa).

Not being on duty did not stop him from getting the assignment, however, or even from wanting it. He loathed Death Eaters, dreaded the day his mother - his real mother - would be targeted because of him. He wanted them gone, locked up for good, and so he quickly took off, Katie and Tonks by his side as they Apparated to outside the small manor, the Dark Mark lighting up the sky above the seemingly untouched house.

Walking up to the building, it wasn't until they got closer that they could see the door, blown to splinters as someone had entered. Cass shook his head, gripping his wand tighter as the three of them approached the house.

Katie had been on duty that night when word of the Dark Mark had come into the office. They were stretched so thin as it was, with all the recent deaths and then so many out for the wedding the day before. They had managed to get a small team together though for the assignment.

Her mind was sharp as they apparated to the small manor where the Dark Mark had appeared. She had memories of the last time she'd encountered a Death Eater playing over and over in her mind, and she tightened her grip on her wand and steeled herself for any possible encounter though it was unlikely now.

They all saw what was left of the door as they approached the house, she held her wand high ready for a possible attack as they slowly entered the house. Searching for anything, survivors and victims alike.

Tonks had been about to leave for home when the news about the Dark Mark had hit the Aurory, having worked much of the day already. But there was no way she could turn down the assignment, no way she would. Instead, she'd sent a brief owl to Remus to warn him she'd be late and joined Katie and Cass.

They'd apparated to the coordinates given them, appearing outside a small manor house. There were wards, but they were barely noticeable, and she frowned to think any wizard or witch would rely on something so weak for protection.

They moved on to the house itself, noticing as they drew closer the damage done to the door. All had their wands at the ready, the two girls flanking Cass as they approached. She was the last one in, taking a moment to scan the yard again to be sure they weren't going to be surprised from behind.

The house was earily quiet when they entered, and Cass felt a chill go down his spine as he stepped inside the hallway. He could feel the lingering magic around the place, but it was fading - so no one was left.

Casting a detection spell he could sense one person being in the house. Though there was something more, he could sense it.

Altering the spell, he sensed it, two more, dead on the upper floor.

He turned to Katy and Tonks. 'One alive in that direction, two dead upstairs.' Gripping his wand tighter he looked at the direction of the survivor - or offender - knowing where they had to begin.

Tonks frowned as they entered the house. It was too quiet, and there was the feel of magic in the air but it was dissipating quickly. She nodded as Vaisey announced the results of his spell. 'At least someone is still alive,' she murmured. All too often, there was nothing but bodies remaining.

'Did you detect any traps?' Tonks asked, her eyes constantly moving around the room. You couldn't always pick up on hidden spells, of course, but it didn't hurt to check. Constant vigilance, she thought with a pang at the memory.

'Nothing, but we'll keep on guard,' Cass answered, making his way towards the room slowly, casting detection spells as he went, hearing Tonks and Katie doing the same.

The sight that met them when they entered, made him stop short. They were in a dining room, and a man was lying on the table. He didn't move or speak or even acknowledge that they were there, but he was breathing, he was clearly alive, even if his body was bruised and battered. Cass could see that from the doorway.

Still, it was the Lestrange crest in the ceiling that drew his attention, and that made his anger rise. A few added detection spells...and their magic was well known to any Auror.

Rabastian. And that of a woman. He would have to check the signature against known Death Eater women. It wasn't Bellatrix's, that much he knew.

Snapping out of it he turned to the man on the table, casting a few diagnosing spells before seeing what was wrong with him.

'Finite Incantatem,' he said, releasing the bonds. He glanced at both Katie and Tonks. 'Enervate,' he then added.

It was a long time ago that Cass had learnt the lesson to stay emotionally detached when involved in a case. He'd learnt the hard way just how wrong things could go if you did not, and yet, when listening to this man, he could feel the bile in his throath, one thought ringing in his mind.

What if it had been mum?

Shaking the thought, he forced himself to try and think logically. They'd asked once, that meant that they knew what the answer would be. It made sense, the mark, the crest in the cieling, the message left in the shape of the burn he'd seen...it was a message, no doubt about that, but for more than Morag MacDougal. Still he had to wonder why she was specifically mentioned. Why her? What did they want?

Seeing Katie handle the victim, Cass pulled Tonks further back. 'This is more than about an employee of Ogden's,' he said in low voice. 'They're sending a message to every magical family in the country, it's the only reason they'd use the mark, don't you think' he whispered, wondering if she'd agree.

'Though I wonder what they want with Morag though,' he added, remembering her from Draco's wedding. She was pretty, definitely, but there had to be more behind wanting sure she was mentioned.

Tonks nodded, her lip curling. 'The victims may have even been a random choice, just a pureblood family that wasn't aligned with the LeStranges. The whole thing was designed for the maximum impact....the deaths of all but one family member, the crest on the ceiling, the Dark Mark outside.... They're hoping to intimidate those families that are trying to straddle the fence into aligning with them, and scare some of the weaker supporters of the Order into changing sides.'

She and Remus were going to have to have another go at her mother, get her into Hogsmeade before the new school session began. There was no doubt that Andromeda would be a target, having married a Muggleborn. And Bella had certainly made it a point to go after the members of her family that were not aligned with her side.

Tonks shook her head. 'I don't know,' she responded. 'Isn't she just a paper pusher? Assistant to Percy Weasley? Maybe it's a family connection...' she said, thinking aloud. 'If she's pureblood, maybe her family is being given a warning?'

Cass listened nodding as he agreed with her. When she spoke about Morag however he shook his head. 'Ogden himself I think, or Percy Weasley would undoubtedly have brought her with him when he started to work at the Aurory,' he said.

'Not that it matters much. We'll need to find out what we can and then contact her about it, I suppose.' He shook his head, then turned his attention to the ceiling.

'We need to deal with the bodies of his parents,' he said. 'Should we leave Katie to tend to him?' he asked indicating Ernie. 'They seem familiar with each other and he probably should not be left alone right now.'

[info]bd_tonks

Tonks shrugged as well. That part would have to wait. There were more pressing concerns, at the moment.

'We do,' she agreed. 'Do you think it's safe to leave her alone with him, though? They could have imperiused him...' There was really no telling what the LeStranges might have in mind. They were all nutty as squirrels...

'I'll check on the bodies and the room to make sure there aren't traps left behind and report back. Give me five minutes,' she told him.

Tonks moved back to the door, scanning the hallway and stairs for any signs of traps, magical or otherwise, before heading up the stairs.

The scene upstairs was horrible, and Tonks narrowed her eyes, feeling disgusted at the depravity of the individuals that would do such a thing. The air was heavy with the scent of blood. Apparently, mere magical torture wasn't enough for the LeStranges. A detection spell showed remnants of the crucio but no traps left behind, and she progressed into the room.

For the moment, she only observed and searched, both visually and with her wand to be sure she hadn't overlooked anything dangerous. Swallowing the bile that threatened to rise in her throat, Tonks returned downstairs to report to Vaisey.

She stopped at the door and signalled to Vaisey to come out into the hall so the boy wouldn't overhear.

Cass nodded, even if he wasn't completely happy about letting Tonks go off on her own. Still, Tonks had a lot more experience than he had and he trusted her to know what she was doing.

Keeping an eye on Katie and the victim, he stayed in the background with an eye and ear in the direction where Tonks had gone. When she returned he easily followed her, keeping his voice low.

'How bad is it?' he asked, seeing by the look on her face that it wasn't pretty.

Tonks tried to keep her report terse and clinical, though it wasn't easy. 'Two older adults, a male and a female, apparently bedridden for some time from the wasting of their limbs, particularly their legs. Signs of the cruciatis, but they were both killed with a knife. Her throat was slit, and he was gutted. No signs of traps or anything left behind.'

She looked into the room to where Katie was trying to soothe the boy. 'He shouldn't see it. Let's get him to the Shack for a healer to check out. Katie can stay with him and get a statement. You and I can take care of what's here....'

Cass nodded, trying to keep his emotions in check. 'Yes that does sound like the best thing,' he agreed, walking into the room where Katie was still sitting with Ernie.

'We'll need to get you to the hospital, sir,' he said softly, crouching. 'You need to be checked out. Katie can go with you if you wish. She'll need to ask some questions, but most of them can wait until we're sure you're physically alright.'
