Summary: Blaise and Rodolphus talk
Completion: InComplete

Kami had not been pleased about being rescheduled, but Blaise assured her it was of the utmost importance and she eventually gave in with what Blaise could only assume to be a pout. He was growing a little worried that Emma had still not written, although he assumed that she must be busy with her mother- he only hoped things were not too bad.

All of these things floated in his mind as he readed for his meeting with Rodolphus, surprised by the summons. Everything seemed to be the same as he apparated to Upper Slaughter and was shown through the Manor to the study where Rodolphus always took his meetings.

"Rodolphus, it's nice to see you again," he greeted calmly, offering his hand as he walked into the room.

Rodolphus read through a report from one of his contacts in France and contemplated the task he was about to give to Blaise Zabini. On first blush, the task was too mundane for the man, a simple task of blatant thuggery better suited to the likes of Miles Bletchley. But on deeper look, the task was one that needed a more subtle hand, something Miles Bletchley decidedly lacked though Blaise definitely possessed such a thing.

He was pleased when the young man arrived on time and he rose and walked out from behind his desk to greet Blaise and shake his hand. He then gestured towards the two armchairs in front of the fireplace.

"Water? Tea? Something stronger?" he said urbanely as Blaise sat down. He took his place in the opposite armchair and waited for Blaise's answer.

Blaise followed comfortable to the chair and took a seat. "Tea, please." It was, after all, a bit early for scotch.

"How are you, Rodolphus? I trust things are going well or I would have heard otherwise?" he said with a look that almost seemed pleased.

Rodolphus summoned a house elf and gave the creature the order for tea. It only took a minute for the house elf to return and Rodolphus gestured to it to serve.

"I am very well. Very well indeed," he said with a hint of smug satisfaction as he accepted his cup of tea from the house elf and watched the creature disappear. "Things are going well and it can equally be said that no one has done anything foolish. I trust all is well with you and your mother?"

He took a sip of his tea then eyed Blaise intently. "You may have realised that I have not asked you here simply for the social niceties."

Blaise graciously (as much as Blaise was ever gracious) accepted the tea and took a sip. It was clear that something had Rodolphus more pleased than usual, but he didn't press on what that would be. If it was important, he would find out eventually- he always did (whether he liked gossip or not.)

"Yes, thank you for asking, we're both well," he wasn't at all surprised that Kami had come up and considered it with a mental smirk.

"Of course," he nodded. Blaise preferred business over pleasure either way but he saw no reason not to adhere to the standards of behaviour expected of the privliged. "What did you wish to see me for?"

"I have a task that I need carried out," Rodolphus said calmly as he sipped at his tea. "It will take some subtlety and some persistence and I believe you are the best candidate for the job. Especially since it is vital that you not be caught or even suspected. You may wish to use intermediaries for some of this."

He waved a hand and summoned a large scroll to him which he placed on the low table between the chairs.

"This is a map of Hogsmeade as accurate as my contacts can make it," he continued. "I suspect there are inaccuracies but my contacts are limited in what they can do since I was more interested in who was living where rather than the actual layout itself."

He leaned back in his chair. "I wish for you to stage what I have chosen to call a low-level terrorism campaign. I want the residents of Hogsmeade to be looking over their shoulders at all times. I want them to be unable to sleep peacefully at night, wondering what will happen next. Ideally I would like a slow build up and I would especially like for these actions to not be connected to the Death Eaters."

Blaise nodded when he mentioned a task, he had suspected as much. A small grin began forming over his lips as Rodolphus explained why he was chosen and just what it was that he needed.

Whan the scroll was placed between them, Blaise leaned forward, unrolling it and examining, nodding in approval as he talked. He had to admit that there was something poetic about the way Rodolphus thought and he let out a small chuckle before leaning back again, very pleased with the assignment.

"I don't see how this should be any problem at all," he said confidently. "Is there anything specific you'd like done other than just general terrorism? Any particular targets, I mean."

"Good," Rodolphus said with satisfaction. He'd expected Blaise to be a good choice for this though time would tell exactly how well he could handle the task.

"No, I don't think we need to aim for anyone in particular," he said after a moment of thought. "In fact it would be better if perhaps you steered away from some of the more... notorious denizens of Hogsmeade. If someone like Potter starts complaining about harassment, the Aurors are more likely to take him seriously than if someone less obvious does so." He took a sip of his tea. "But I shall leave it to your judgement. If you can find a way to target someone safely then do so."

He arched an eyebrow at Blaise. "All I ask is that the crimes are not connected to you or the Death Eaters. And that you make arrangements so that anyone you hire cannot point the finger at you. It must seem to be the work of common thugs."

Idea were already starting to form in his mind and Blaise found he was truly looking forward to the task at hand- particularly that he was expected to keep his hands clean.

"Of course," he agreed with a slight nod.

"That won't be a problem," he assured Rodolphus with a confident grin. "Was there anything else?"
