RP: I Know What I Want And I Shall Get It All
Date: 23 June 2005 (pre-dawn, about 4am-ish)
Characters: Rodolphus Lestrange
Location: Glastonbury Tor
Private/Public: Public
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Summary: Rodolphus searches for some lost artefacts that he’s wanted and not so incidentally triggers a trap
Completion: InComplete

Rodolphus made his way to Glastonbury Tor in the pre-dawn darkness and paused at the base of the hill. He looked up at the massive structure above him and smiled coolly. He pulled out his wand and settled the bag he was carrying more comfortably on his shoulder. He started up the hill until he came to the first of the wards. It was a simple alert ward and he gave a malicious chuckle.

It took a matter of moments to take the ward down, especially since he was deliberately clumsy about it. To anyone who could feel the ward, it would simply seem like an amateurish effort at being subtle, perhaps the actions of a foolish wizard trying to be clever. He made his way up the Tor to the ruins of the church where he found more wards. Once again he took them down in that clumsy fashion then he walked into the remains of St Michael’s tower.

It wasn’t difficult to locate where Voldemort’s artefacts were. The Dark magic was obvious to him even through the wards. He made his way down into a dimly lit basement until he found the well-disguised trapdoor. He chuckled to himself then he knelt down. He placed his bag on the floor and opened it, pulling out a couple of cases and opening them. Inside each were a variety of blades and other devices, all infused with spells that could be used to detect, identify and disrupt wards and other protective spells.

He picked up the first, a long slender blade, and began the slow process of dismantling the wards. This time he made no effort to disguise what he was doing. He wanted the Order to know what he was doing. He wanted them to realise this was serious and respond with full numbers.

He cast a number of strong shielding spells around himself and then touched the tip of the blade to the trapdoor, raising an eyebrow when it glowed green. He chuckled and activated one of the spells within the blade and the first of the wards crumbled. That would get the attention of the Order. He moved onto the second of the wards, knowing that for every ward he took down or tripped, the panic and fear would be spreading through the Order.

Minerva woke to a feeling prickling down her back. She was alert almost instantly.

Wards had been breached. Grasping her wand, she concentrated for a moment. There were so many wards she was aware of, that she needed to determine which ones had been dismantled.

It wasn't the castle, but after a moment she realised which ones they were. Glastonbury Tor. Voldemort's possessions. She had hidden a number of his artefacts there with Harry after the defeat, hoping to keep them out of the hands of the dark wizards.

Although now someone had broken them down. She was dressed quickly, her patronuses being sent to every Order member in the cold dawn light. She asked them to meet at Glastonbury Tor, where they could confront the intruder and no doubt take him down.

She didn't wait for anyone, changing quickly into her Animagus form and racing towards the apparition point. She hoped that many would hear the call.

Aberforth was woken out of a sound sleep by the silver flash of the patronus. He was half asleep at the start of Minerva's message but by halfway through he was wide awake and by the time it had finished he was out of his bed and pulling on the fatigues he'd 'liberated' from the Army stores the last time he'd been there. He laced the boots with magic then ran down out of his room.

He took the stairs two at a time and paused in the bar just long enough to leave a scrawled note for Stan. He then headed out the front door and pelted down the street towards Dippet Drive. When he got to Antonin's house, he didn't hesitate. He ran up to the front door and threw it open.

"Dolohov! We've got trouble! Gear up!" he bellowed as he ran for the armoury and his armour and weapons.

When Aberforth crashed through the door, Antonin jumped to his feet. He called for Morag, then summoned his transigured armor and weapons to him. Without regards for propriety, he stripped down, then donned his underarmor padding, then the robes. Moving quickly, he strapped his swords and pistols on.

Anthony had just gone back to bed when he got the silvery flash. He quickly jumped up and donned his robes, hearing commotion in the house. He walked out into the hall, seeing Aberforth, Antonin and Morag preparing for battle.

"I'll be needed at the Shack," he said, turning to them. "Be careful. All of you." He ran to the door, summoning Nikita and his broom. Once outside, he mounted it and headed straight for the Shack, running inside and getting preparations made.

It was going to be a very long day.

The sound of the front door crashing open had Morag rolling out of the bed and grabbing for her wand before she recognized the voice as that of Aberforth. Antonin had already accioed his armor and weapons, and Morag ducked out of their path, quickly summoning her own at the same time. With a quickly cast obscuring spell, she was soon slipping into her battle clothing, rolling her eyes that Antonin had created them as a catsuit. It would serve him right if she didn't transfigure them into something more proper, she snorted.

But transfigure them, she did, into her customary close-fitting trousers and short tunic covered with a robe. Another quick charm had her hair bound back, out of her way. Then she was slipping into her boots, slipping her extra wand and her knives into their normal hiding spots.

She heard Anthony call out as he left, and then she was heading to the door with a feral grin, only to stop short. 'Where?' she called.

Aberforth yanked his chainmail shirt on, swearing as it caught on his hair. He pulled on the rest of his light armour and went for his weapons. It was a matter of moments to ready his hurlbats and axe then he turned to Dolohov.

"Glastonbury Tor," he said tersely. "Do you know it? We'll have to get outside the wards to apparate. Be ready for anything. Someone's going after Voldemort's artefacts."

Antonin grabbed one of his larger carpets and slung it over his shoulder. "Morag and I will go with you to the Apparation Point. You can pass us through faster than if we tried it ourselves."

Aberforth settled his weapons more comfortably then nodded to Dolohov and Morag. He didn't bother questioning Dolohov about the carpet. He knew the man wouldn't encumber himself unless it was important.

"Good. Let's get going."

He led them out of the house at a run, heading for the nearest apparition point. He growled at the Auror stationed there when he tried to stop Dolohov and the young man backed off, looking startled and just a touch intimidated.

Aberforth looked over at Dolohov and Morag. "Get going," he barked then he apparated away.

Antonin turned to Morag as he prepared to Apparate, "For a change, stay behind me, let me draw the fire. Keep them off my back; I can only see to the front in the heavy armor. Good luck." He apparated after Aberforth.

Morag resisted the urge to clout Antonin about the head. She did work for Tiberius Ogden, after all, and she could have bloody well gotten them through the guards at the apparition point without any trouble!

They set out at a run, the air still cool and damp from the night before. At the apparition point, Aberforth was soon away. Antonin told her to stay behind him before he too disappeared.

'Oh, as if!!!' she snarled as she, too, pushed herself into the gut-wrenching energies of an apparition.

It had been a shitty night. He'd cast healing charms on himself once he'd gotten back to his room at the inn, but he didn't think it had done much for the broken ribs. His chest still hurt like a bitch. Luckily, his ankle seemed to be alright.

He hadn't really gotten much sleep by the time McGonagall's patronus came floating into the room. "Uhhh, no! Go 'way!" he groaned.

But the buggering Patronus just kept coming. Wards triggered. Glastonbury Tor.

Fuck.

Ron jumped out of bed, which had been a bad idea, and threw on a pair of robes. He didn't have time to pack, and frankly, he didn't have anything with him that he cared to see again. He did make sure to take the used potion phials with him. Grabbing his wand, he quickly Apparated out.

A flash of silver flared across Tonks' closed eyelids, and she lifted her head, searching it out. Recognizing it as Minerva's, Tonks started shaking Remus. 'Remus, get up!' she called as she slipped out of the bed.

Grabbing for her clothes as she took in the message, Tonks felt her insides chill, and she stumbled as she dressed as quickly as she could. 'Somebody's trying to get to the Voldemort artefacts,' she told Remus. 'Glastonbury Tor? That's in Somerset, isn't it?'

Hurrying, she raced down the stairs, setting the wards on the house to keep it safe, just in case. Then she loped off towards the apparition point at a dead run.

Remus woke up with a start when he heard Tonks' voice, and it took a moment to focus on her question. "Yes, it's in Somerset, near Bristol," he answered his voice still thick with sleep, but he was already up, picking up one of his older robe. No sense in ruining a perfect good robe to battle.

His mind was already on the battle, but he couldn't help but smile while he watched his lover. She was known for her clumsiness, but when it counted, she was efficient and strong and efficient.

He shook his head, and ran after her. This wasn't time to get romantic and introspective. It was time to fight.

Luna was up getting herself a glass of water in the very early morning hours, when a patronus flew in through their open window. As soon as she heard the message she rushed into the bedroom pulling on a pair of pants and changing out of her night clothes.

She had missed the last battle and there was no way she was going to let herself hide during this one. She needed to get out there and show that she could help, that she could fight.

"Kevin wake up, we've got to go." She shook his shoulders once as she continued around the room making sure she had everything she would need. "McGonagall said there's a battle, we've got to go."

Kevin sat up groggily as Luna shook his shoulders. "A what?" He jumped out of bed, pulling on a pair of jeans. He started to get ready when he stopped. He walked over and took Luna's hands.

"Luna... I don't think we should. Not this time."

Luna was still bustling around their dark room when Kevin jumped out of bed starting to get ready as well. She was going over in her mind the things she would need and mentally preparing herself for battle.

She almost jumped when Kevin caught her by the hands, "What? Why? They need our help."

He sighed. "I know you do. I want to as well. But if you go out there and get hexed, you might lose the baby. I doubt that McGonagall would allow you to go, anyhow."

His mind raced. "Let's go down and check your potions and supplies. Even if we can't help in the actual battle, the Shack is going to need potions to treat injuries. I'm sure they can use the help with that. Plus, you can mix any needed potions on the fly. OK?"

Luna sighed, she had hated herself after hiding during the first battle, she wanted to prove that she was just as much an asset to the Order as anyone else, and now she couldn't.

She nodded slowly though at Kevin's suggestion, at least this way she would be able to help a little, even if she couldn't fight.

Dennis heard Colin banging around the flat, not attempting to keep quiet. He raced out, bleary eyed, only to see Colin already putting his coat on muttering about a Patronus from McGonagall.

"Oh, you're not leaving me behind," he said, racing back into his room to dress. He grabbed his new wand from his dressing table. He'd gone to the meeting with Ollivander, only to find that the old wand maker had somehow found and restored his old wand. His original wand. Eleven inches, Holly, unicorn hair.

It felt warm and comfortable under his hand, and if Colin was going to go off on some battle hunt for the Order, then he was going too. Quickly dressing, he grabbed his coat, giving his brother a look that said they were not going to argue about this, not now.

Colin had been sleeping soundly, pressed up tight against Cormac when the Patronus came in through the window. He still half asleep as it started speaking, but Cormac sat up straight away and began getting dressed.

Colin was up soon after him, muttering to himself about not enough sleep and stupid death eaters and all that, as he bustled around the flat getting ready and pulling on his coat.

He gave Dennis a hard look as he came back out after getting dressed. He would have rather his brother stayed at home, and missed this one - especially after what happened during the last battle. But he knew Dennis wouldn't listen, and maybe this could be good for him.

So Colin didn't try and stop him as the three of them headed out into the early morning racing towards the apparition point.

Fred had a lingering headache from the nightmare he'd just endured as he sat at the kitchen table with his tea half finished, looking around and rubbing his head. Closing his eyes, Fred rubbed his temples and nursed the cup of tea quietly. Placing his cup on the table he looked around and stopped dead. "Bloody hell...." A patronus was in the kitchen and that only meant one thing. He rose up out of his chair with so much force it fell to the ground. He didn't have time to pick it back up but rushed to the bedrooms to wake Katie and George.

He dashed into his bedroom and got his battle gear and spare battle gear for George, since his was torn asunder in the last battle. "We have to go." Fred said gravely but loudly to Katie, flinging open the curtains and pulling on his charmed armour. "There's a patronus in the kitchen, battle has been declared." All he heard was the rustle of sheets as Katie probably jumped out of bed.

George was already awake from the ruckus when Fred poked his head in to toss the battle clothing to his twin. "We're taking it easy this time, I'm not seeing you injured again." Fred pointed at George, whispering under his breath as Katie came out in her auror robes.

Fred reached into the rucksack of some supplies he had stowed away and found a box. "Look, it's that Peruvian Darkness Powder....I found a leftover box that never made it to the shop, I hope it's still good." He brought out a few packets for each twin and gave some to Katie as well. "Make sure you're not anywhere near the cloud when you drop it...you won't be able to see at all. Drop it near a cloud of DE's and go, let them fight themselves." Fred's mind was always in the battle, totally serious when he needed to be, and so far, it had paid off.

He milled around a for a bit, making sure they had everything.

George's head snapped up when he heard the commotion from the kitchen. He heard Fred rustling around and mention a patronus, awakening him immediately. He had just gotten up when Fred walked in, tossing his arm to him.

"I agree. Even though I don't remember the last one, I don't want to risk it. Besides, I'm still not at peak condition yet." Fred nodded as he walked from the room, allowing him to get dressed.

George walked out just as Fred found the powder. "Brilliant. It should be. If anything, it will work better from sitting for so long." He took the offered packets, checked his wand, and took a breath. He thought of Parvati, cursing himself that he didn't have time to even send a note to her.

He shook it off, then went to the door. "All right, let's go." He stepped out with Fred and Katie, not surprised to see others heading for the Apparation points.

They headed out and just before they reached the apparition point, Fred grabbed Katie's arm and pulled her to him. "Listen, after everything's said and done, go home. If I'm not there, go to the shack. I'll do the same." He kissed her hard and passionate, placing every feeling he ever had for her in that one kiss, because in times such as these, each kiss could be the last.

Fred pulled back, trying not to shake as he said it, but managed a small smile and a hopeful wink "I'll see you at home Katie. I love you." With one last look into her eyes, Fred felt a tight squeeze on his arms from Katie's hands, holding onto him tightly, as much as he was. And then they both turned to go; Katie to the Aurors and Fred to join George. "Once more into the fray Forge??"

Katie had been sleeping soundly, thoughts of sleeping in, and spending the morning in bed with Fred were swirling through her mind. When Fred dashed into the room she was ready to hex him silly until he said a battle had been declared. She was up immediately, getting dressed and getting together her things for the battle.

They didn't talk much as they all three rushed about getting their things and heading out into the early morning. Katie was focused completely on the battle ahead as they made their way to the apparition point.

She hadn't expected Fred to stop her before they reached the apparition spot. She nodded though, she couldn't let thoughts of the possibilities enter her mind as they headed into battle. And yet as Fred kissed her, she knew she would see him again after this.

"I love you, too." She squeezed his arm tightly holding on to him as long as she could, before she had to leave them both and join the Aurors. She looked over her should at the twins "You two had better be careful, or I'll never forgive you."
